The GDPR, or General Data Protection Regulation, is a comprehensive data privacy law enacted by the European Union (EU) that came into effect on May 25, 2018. It governs how organizations collect, process, store, and share personal data of individuals in the EU (and the wider European Economic Area — EEA).
